What’s the most important trend in Insurtech this year? In a recent conversation with my colleague Jan Kastory, we agreed that in the current economic climate, the focus has shifted decisively toward cost optimization. Companies that can deliver real, measurable efficiency gains are the ones poised for growth.
I recently saw a fantastic example of this principle in action. Jacob Gurman-Schatz of umAI, an innovative company from my home market of Israel, gave me a look at their AI-powered tool for motor claims processing. The system analyzes over a dozen parameters for each incoming claim to identify which ones require the immediate attention of an experienced claims handler or manager.
The impact is significant. Simpler claims can be fast-tracked, leading to quicker payouts and higher customer satisfaction. Most importantly, it frees up expert human resources to focus on the complex cases where their knowledge is truly indispensable. This isn't about replacing people, but augmenting them—ensuring the right claim gets to the right expert at the right time. It's a powerful demonstration of AI being used for strategic optimization.
